Showing at North Shore Art Assoc. Gloucester, Month of October '14
Have two paintings showing at the North Shore Art Association's (NSAA, Gloucester, Mass.) Fall show running for the month of October. There are two themes. First there are "Paint Out" paintings which were produced this summer on three separate occasions at the NSAA. This year they have started a great new learning experience for the newer artists like myself called a "Paint Out". On these occasions you are invited to paint outdoors on the NSAA's beautiful site and while you work, about 6 seasoned , well known Artist Members walk around and give you help. Among the group are such well known artists as Charles Movalli, Tom Nichols, Paul Cimattaro, Ron Straka and Ken Knowles and Betty Lou Schlem. I learned alot from this distinguished group and my painting "Pier Pressure" (below) resulted from the session.
Also, I have another painting, "Marsh Sunset" (below) in the show. This painting was done plein air this summer on the island of Islesboro, Maine. I painted it at a place called "The Narrows" which is a spot in the middle of this 14 mile long island where it is almost cut in half by the sea. There is a wonderful protected cove here which provides nice shelter for sailors and the spot affords a beautiful view to the Camden Hills. These hills at sunset can be spectacular as they were on the evening I was there in August this summer.
